The Role

Do you enjoy a cup of coffee over an expert magazine as part of your morning routine? Do you have experience in international research projects? Do you know what Horizon Europe is about? Do you care about the future of our planet? If yes, then you are a perfect match for this post! As a sustainability expert you will be expected to help our team – in different capacities – to develop and apply our tools in different sustainability areas. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include carrying out literature reviews and desk research for our social simulations, coordinating and writing research grant applications (e.g. Horizon Europe programme), and writing reports and scientific articles as needed.

You will be involved in international research projects with partners from top universities and research institutes and therefore excellent written and spoken English, as well as extensive up-to-date knowledge about different areas of sustainable development, are essential requirements for this position. We also require experience in writing research grant applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with partners on international research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe)
  • Searching and processing information on various topics (environmental, economic and social) related to sustainable development, from a diverse range of sources
  • Writing grant proposals and monitoring open calls for proposals
  • Writing articles for peer-reviewed journals and a general audience
  • Participating in international events, including project and game workshops in Poland and abroad

Key Requirements/Experience

  • Excellent command of English in speech and writing (to be verified during the job interview)
  • A PhD in one of the disciplines closely linked to sustainable development: e.g. social geography, environmental economics, social-ecological systems
  • State-of-the-art knowledge of sustainable development issues, climate change, climate change mitigation/ adaptation (e.g. Paris Agreement), energy transition, disasters, behavioural change, etc.
  • Conscientiousness, independence, responsibility – these are not just fancy words – we really value these traits

Nice to have

  • Experience in group facilitation and/or moderating events (conferences, discussion panels, workshops)
  • Knowledge of computer and board games, especially serious games
  • Experience in working for the benefit of society and the natural environment

We offer

  • Flexible work time (40 hours per week)
  • Salary based on track record and qualifications (5000-9000 PLN net)
