Sustainability Modeler/Analyst

Location: Wrocław (Poland), remote work possible

We are looking for an experienced modeler who will lead the development of an agent-based model focusing on the effects of the European Green Deal on the labour market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an agent-based model (ABM) analysing sustainability transition policies and their effects on the labour market
  • Calibrate the ABM based on available data from various sources (also qualitative), process and analyse the model results
  • Integrate the ABM into an interactive online simulation (in cooperation with other programmers)
  • Write and contribute to scientific articles and science-policy reports derived from the above work as well as research proposals
  • Support in the design and delivery of international events, including project and social simulations workshops

Key Requirements/Experience

  • The applicant should have a degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or other relevant fields
  • Experience in developing dynamic models such as agent-based models, system dynamics, or similar and applying them in the area of sustainable development
  • Programming (Python)
  • Advanced skills in data processing and analysis
  • Quick and effective search, analysis, and processing of scientific information (also in the areas beyond current experience)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English, good presentation skills, and the ability to write scientific articles and contribute to science-policy reports

Nice to have

  • Orientation in the current policy issues around European Green Dea
  • Experience in macroeconomic modeling, e.g. CGE modeling
  • Experience in experimental economics
  • Knowledge of sustainable development issues, including the Sustainable Development Goals, climate change mitigation/adaptation, energy transition, behavioral change, etc
  • Knowledge of computer and board games, especially serious games
  • Experience in JavaScript programming and related frameworks
  • A publication record in international, peer-reviewed journals in economics
  • Experience in working for the benefit of society and the natural environment
