SYSARM is a European project that strengthens systems thinking and risk management skills across the agri-food sector. It supports adult learners, trainers, farmers, SME staff, and rural workers in understanding the interconnected pressures that shape agricultural decisions and outcomes, from climate instability and market volatility to policy changes and supply chain disruptions.

Learning tools

The project will create a practical Learning Hub that takes users from foundational knowledge to applied decision-making:

1. Learn: Develop core knowledge of systems thinking, agricultural risk and resilience, key outputs include a modular online course (MOOC).
2. Explore: Analyse real agri-food challenges and the interdependencies behind them.
3. Simulate: Test decisions and strategies in an interactive, scenario-based environment.
4. Recognise: Receive EU-aligned digital micro-credentials for achieved learning outcomes.

CRS will co-lead the development of SYSARM’s simulation-based learning component. As part of the project, CRS will develop the project’s interactive simulation game and contribute to gamified learning scenarios that will reflect real-world agri-food risk dynamics.

Through simulation, participants will be able to test different strategies in a safe learning environment and explore how their decisions may affect risks, resilience, and the wider functioning of agri-food systems. This approach will support learners in understanding the long-term consequences of strategic decisions in complex farm environments, helping them move from abstract knowledge towards practical and forward-looking decision-making.

SYSARM brings together nine partners from Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland, combining expertise in adult education, agriculture, simulation, systems thinking, policy dialogue, and communication.
