A Common Dilemma
Project Description
A Common Dilemma is a multiplayer computer game. The participants receive natural resources to common utilization. During the game every player has to make decisions relating to the scale of using the resources. However, the players can communicate and establish cooperative strategies. But the temptation to maximize own profits can be stronger than the word given to the others.
A Common Dilemma teaches how to manage common goods effectively. The game develops analytical and making-decision skills. It shows the value of communication and trust for solving social problems. But essentially it points to the power of the basic everyday dilemma: operate for own benefits or for the common good? And at the same time it disproves this dilemma showing that sustainability is a long-term benefit for all.
The game particularly useful in communities with access to natural resources, among managers, local authorities, individuals interested in sustainability issues, students and educators.
