CRS at the 3rd Climate Academy at WUEB
How can we engage people in meaningful conversations about climate and sustainability? This question was at the heart of the 3rd Climate Academy, organised by the Wrocław University of Economics and Business (WUEB). The event brought together students, researchers, and practitioners to explore practical ways of addressing climate challenges and transforming climate anxiety into meaningful action.
During the session “Methods and tools to engage stakeholders in discussing climate”, Michalina Kułakowska from the Centre for Systems Solutions (CRS) presented participatory methods used in several Horizon Europe projects, including FOODMISSION, PARATUS, PLUSChange, and GRACE. The presentation demonstrated how tools such as social simulations, policy simulations, and systems mapping can foster dialogue, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support collaborative decision-making.
A key part of the session was the presentation of FOODMISSION as an example of how citizen science can help translate climate concerns into concrete action. By involving citizens in research and the co-creation of digital solutions, the project supports people in understanding the environmental impact of their everyday food choices, making more informed decisions, and sharing knowledge within their communities. FOODMISSION demonstrates that addressing climate and sustainability challenges begins not only with policy changes but also with empowering citizens to take action through their daily habits.
We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation and everyone who participated in the session and contributed to the inspiring discussion on citizen engagement and sustainable futures.
