Shaping Sustainable Food Futures: The Third FOODMISSION Consortium Meeting

Shaping Sustainable Food Futures: The Third FOODMISSION Consortium Meeting

On 9–11 June 2026, two representatives of the Centre for Systems Solutions (CRS) took part in the third international consortium meeting of the FOODMISSION project, held in Volos, Greece.

FOODMISSION is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project supporting the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy. The project aims to empower citizens with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed, healthy, and sustainable food choices. By combining gamification, citizen science, and education, FOODMISSION investigates food-related behaviours and explores effective ways to encourage long-term change towards more sustainable food systems.

The meeting in Volos brought together representatives of all partner organisations involved in the project. During the three-day event, consortium members reviewed progress achieved so far, discussed the implementation of individual work packages, and planned the next stages of project activities. Particular attention was given to the development of the FOODMISSION platform, approaches to measuring behavioural change, pilot activities, and stakeholder engagement through the Transformation Labs (T-Labs).

As an active project partner, CRS contributes to the implementation of T-Labs and supports the co-creation of solutions that engage citizens in the transformation of food systems. The consortium meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences among partners representing academia, civil society, public administration, and the private sector.

Alongside the formal programme, participants had the opportunity to experience Greek culture and hospitality. Shared dinners featuring fresh local seafood, fish, traditional Greek cheeses, and regional beverages created a welcoming atmosphere for informal discussions and relationship-building among project partners. The programme also included time by the Aegean Sea, allowing participants to strengthen connections and foster collaboration in a more relaxed setting.

The FOODMISSION project (No. 101181774) runs from 1 January 2025 to 30 June 2028 and brings together 10 partners from 8 European countries.
